APPLICATION APPLICATION

Admissions

Families interested in applying to the School for Young Children should begin the process one year before their desired start date. Children must be three years old by December 31st of the entry year and also fully independent in the bathroom.

We encourage families to schedule a tour of the school in the fall before submitting an application. Experiencing SYC’s environment firsthand provides greater understanding of our curriculum, daily routines, school policies and learning space.

After deciding that SYC is the right fit, families are welcome to submit an application along with a non-refundable processing fee. Fall open enrollment dates are shared during tours, and listed on the website.  Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Priority is given to current families, returning families and USJ staff.

When a family is offered a spot, the acceptance is returned with a non- refundable deposit to secure their child’s enrollment.  The deposit will be deducted from the first month’s tuition.

School Readiness Family Support

Financial assistance for Full Day students (5 Day, Full Day to 5:30 p.m.) is available for up to 6 income-eligible residents of the Town of West Hartford through the State of Connecticut’s School Readiness Program.  Please contact the Director at the School for Young Children at 860.231.5560 to ask about the School Readiness Program.

Summer Camp

SYC Summer Camp program is available in two-week sessions from late June through mid-July.  Registration is exclusive to School for Young Children families and opens at the end of February.  Half day (8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) and full day (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) options are available. Children experience creative and dramatic arts, music, science, nature, and water play during camp.
